I left a stable, well-compensated director-level career to start Future First Finance because I couldn't stop seeing an opportunity that almost nobody in the financial advisory world was talking about.
The energy transition is happening faster than most investors realize — and the compounding effects are underappreciated in both directions. Sustainable infrastructure benefits from powerful operating leverage as adoption accelerates. Legacy fossil fuel infrastructure faces the mirror image: as demand softens even modestly, the enormous fixed costs of refineries, pipelines, and extraction infrastructure become a growing drag. Most portfolios are still positioned as if neither of these dynamics exist.
I've been actively managing my own investment portfolio for nearly two decades, with a climate lens since 2008 — long before it was a mainstream conversation. That experience taught me that understanding an investment requires going beyond the financials. When I ruled out hydrogen as a near-term climate solution, it wasn't because of weak economics — it was because the underlying physics and engineering create fundamental limits that no amount of capital can overcome in the near term. I bring that same multi-disciplinary thinking to every investment decision.
I've spent years going deep on specific market structures that most US-based advisors have never encountered — UK renewable energy infrastructure trusts, electricity market pricing mechanisms, government support structures across multiple countries. Living and working in the Netherlands and Singapore gave me a firsthand perspective on how different markets, regulatory environments, and investor cultures operate. I do this research in conversation with a global community of analysts, fund managers, and specialized researchers, not in isolation. That ongoing exchange keeps my thinking sharp and my blind spots smaller.
With two young kids and a growing conviction that the next decade matters enormously for the planet they'll inherit, leaning fully into this work — in an area where I've built genuine expertise over many years — became the obvious choice. I hold a FINRA Series 65 license and operate as a registered investment advisor serving clients nationwide from Madison, Wisconsin.
Do you know if you're on track for retirement — and what that even means given how fast the world is changing? I help you build a financial plan that addresses your real goals, accounts for your values, and gives you a clear picture of where you stand and what to do next.
You want your money working harder — for your future and for the planet. I build and manage a portfolio tailored specifically to you: your risk tolerance, your financial goals, and your conviction that where your money goes matters. This is not a model portfolio. It's yours.
Already managing your own investments but not sure how climate-aligned they really are? I'll review what you own, assess its genuine climate impact, identify risks you may not have considered, and recommend specific changes. One conversation, flat fee, no obligation to become an ongoing client.
The foundation of Future First Finance is investment management for people who want to be climate positive but don't have the time or interest in managing those investments themselves. For that assistance, I charge a tiered fee as follows:
$100k minimum
This is a blended rate, so if you had $1 million invested, the overall fee would be 0.875% (the weighted average of applicable rates).
My fees for financial planning and portfolio review are tailored, depending on what questions you are looking to answer. Assume that the fee will be between $1,000 to $3,000 depending on how complex your situation is and how many questions you have. For more details, contact me and we'll work together on the specifics.
